Board Games

Board Games CCA aim to develop students to be confident, active and caring, and acquire the 21st Century Competencies of Civic Literacy, Global Awareness and Cross – cultural Skills; Critical and Inventive Thinking; Communication, Collaboration and Information Skills.

In addition, we believe it will inculcate the values of Lighthouse School – iSHINE and in alignment with 3RICH –Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony in a fun and engaging way.

Through the games of Scrabble with Braille for students with Visual Impairment (VI) and Pictionary for students with Hearing Loss (HL), they develop the skills of turn –taking, math skills, mental agility, thinking ahead, actions and consequences, making tough choices, teamwork and being a good sport.

It was heartening to see our students with VI, who started with no basic knowledge of how to play Scrabble reaching a level where they developed confidence to form more difficult and longer words. As for Pictionary, the players had many hilarious moments deciphering one another’s drawings while racing against time. Some overcame their initial nervousness and were able to build team spirit.

At the end of each session, the students would be happily cheering, “We Think! We Play! Board Games All the Way!!”
