Synchronised Drumming

“It’s time to drum together … Let our hearts beat as one!”

The idea of drumming, where a rhythm is created by hitting an object, is probably as old as the first humans. Even animals in the wild, especially the primates, conduct some form of drumming. Currently, the earliest known type of drum made by mankind after prehistoric times was made of made of alligator hides and clay. It was discovered in China and dates back to 5500 to 2300 BC. Drums have been used for a variety of purposes from religious to military uses, and from entertainment to the hobbyist. Synchronised drumming, when achieved, can facilitate the formation of social bonds and consequently, the ability to cooperate in the group.

Synchronised Drumming CCA was introduced as a CCA in 2020. Our CCA members come from all groups of LHSians, from the NCP to CCP, and from both students with HL and VI. While learning drumming together, our members inevitably practise our school’s iSHINE values. Finally, the feeling of understanding by being able to drum together as one is simply amazing!
